    OMC New Principal

The Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Angelica Chávez as the new principal of Oxnard Middle College High School, effective July 1.

A proud Oxnard native, Dr. Chávez has over 20 years of experience in education, including 15 years as a high school history teacher, primarily at her alma mater, Oxnard High School. She has also served as an assistant principal and district administrator.

Most recently, Dr. Chávez served as the Coordinator of Professional Learning and Civic Engagement for Simi Valley Unified School District, where she led districtwide professional development, expanded CTE programs, and launched new civic recognition initiatives. She is a frequent conference presenter with expertise in inclusive school practices, equity, and educational policy.

Dr. Chávez holds a B.A. in History from UC Santa Barbara, an M.A. in Education from Azusa Pacific University, a Master of Legal Studies from Pepperdine University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from California Lutheran University. A former teen parent, Dr. Chávez’s journey reflects her deep belief in the power of education to break barriers, create opportunity, and transform lives.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Chávez back home and congratulating her on this new leadership role at Oxnard Middle College High School!
